BP medications and alcohol
#1
Looking in the forums I didn't find any questions about BP medications. I didn't even know which forum to post to, whether diet and nutrition or medications. Is everyone here a teatotaller? :) Does drinking a few drinks on weekends cause any problems? I have been to the doctor so many times and I always forget the question.

I like my beer and wine just fine, thank you. :) The medications have not caused a problem me a problem. I have a happy hour a few days a week with 1 or 2 beers.

Thats very good news after all the diet changes I am making. I love salt but that is cut way back. At least I have my beer.

The first few times, be careful. Try just a bit at a time. You never know what symptoms might affect you because everyone is different. Also, just phone your doctor and get some information that way. Tell them its no rush and they will eventually get back to you.

True enough, being careful is always a good idea. Thanks for the advice.

I called the doctor as suggested. A few glasses of beer or wine are not going to cause me any harm. I am happy now. :D

Moderation is the secret to this one. As long as you
re moderate on your alcohol consumption or beer consumption.. :) Drinking wine and beer has its own benefits as long as its kept to moderation. :)

I am on three different kinds of BP medication, and I enjoy a drink several days a week. I like an occasional vodka and lemonade, or a glass of wine, and I run it past my doctor years ago. He said pretty much what people have said here - in moderation, it's fine, and it can actually help to lift your mood and help you feel better about yourself.
