I have high blood pressure and I am obese. I am tring to take control of my health so I went on a low carb diet. I noticed that my blood pressure almost never spikes now. I have just started losing weight and am still obese. Can diet changes work this fast or is the carbs?
Good job in taking control. You have a tough journey ahead of you. I have noticed diet can affect my blood pressure too. I am guessing it has something to do with how the food is absorbed but I don't know specifically.
I would say that it is from the carbs. The carbs go directly into blood sugar really quickly, especially those that are highly processed. By cutting out many of the carbs you will see a more even blood pressure. You will still need go get your weight under control to get your hypertension under control.
Hey thanks for the answers. I really have a hard time with the diet. I feel like I am starving a lot of the time. I have been a big eater for years. It is nice to see at least one quick benefit from the diet. The weight loss is gonna take a long while.
I was obese but I recently lost 6 stone and my blood pressure is great. I also went on a low carb diet to get the weight off and it also had the same effect on my blood pressure. I was told by my doctor that it happens when you all of a sudden cut out carbs. I was told to drink plenty of water.
Following the Low carb diet definitely have some effect on blood pressure, But other than this I would say to take use of herbal medicines, which will help you to maintain the blood pressure.

After my last pregnancy I was advised by my doctor that my blood pressure was too high and I was prescribed pills. I have several family members who suffer from high blood pressure. I decided to drastically change my diet and I did follow the low carb diet. I also drank a lot of water as well. It helped me and I didn't have to take the pills anymore.
Yes, change in diet along with low carb diet will help you to reduce your weight without harming much of your health. If you lose a weight with proper nutritional value you will never have issues like blood pressure, cholesterol or any health related issue.
