Ideas for shortening migraine duration?
#1
Does anyone have any suggestions for shortening the amount of time that a migraine lasts? I want to shorten how long they hit me for and get on my feet faster.

Alternative medicines, vitamins or anything are worth a try.

Thanks

I don't get migraines, but the neuralgia is brutal. I have not found a way myself to reduce my down time, but if you do find a way, please pass it along.

All I know is that if you lie down in a dark room with a cool rag on your head, you can help it. Not sure about shortening duration, I have not heard any tricks to that. If you can try to fall asleep that may help, but I know that is difficult to do when the pain is so intense you can't get your mind off of it.

I know this may sound weird but there is a pressure point between the first finger and the thumb, in the meaty part, that if you apply strong controlled pressure to the area it can easy the pain of a migraine. It doesn
t always work, it depends on the severity of the migraine and how far into it you are. I usually have one of my children or my husband apply pressure to both hands while I lay down and close my eyes. If no one is around to help I will use clothes pins. It doesn
t take the pain away but it does seem to lessen it for me. Also, it
s not because it
s causing other pain that takes away from the migraine pain, the pressure is never that strong. Also, I have found that if I pull the hair at the base of my skull for about 2 minutes and then let go I notice a decrease in the pain. Hope these help you.
