which brand is good for hearing aids?
#1
Hi all, I need help in choosing hearing aids for my husband. He was using hearing aids at severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss (it's an old analog BTE hearing aid). Last week we consulted an audiologist at Hearing Solutions, Toronto and []he suggested to use digital hearing aids[]. The two brands he mentioned are []Phonak[] and []Siemens[]. Can any of you help us to choose the best among these two? My husband's audiogram is;

Frequency : 500 1000 2000 4000 Hz

Left ear : 80 95 105 110 dB

Right ear : 80 100 105 115 dB

He has to use his mobile and landline at the office most of the time related to his work. So we are looking for completely in the canal type for better comfort. Thoughts, please.

I would prefer Phonak. Both the brands may have aids for your specification. Get other people
s opinion too.

Well, both Phonak and Siemens make top-notch hearing aids and their price do not differ as much from each other. So I would just highlight the pros and cons of each brand:

[]Phonak[]

PROS:

Very student-oriented and widely used by infants and children
Can compress and shift higher frequencies into a range that is easier to hear

CONS:

Moisture related issues with their hearing aids

[]Siemens[]

PROS:

The only company to have developed a completely waterproof hearing aid
Has devised a technology that allows their hearing aids to be controlled and be able to hear more clearly than non-wearers
Compatible with iPhone and you can control the volume through it

CONS:

You need to purchase the higher end hearing aids to get the best features

So there you go, some pros and cons for each brand. It's up to you which brand you would purchase since for me, both has its merits and certainly fit your condition. I hope this helps!
