Primary insomnia
#1
Primary insomnia is sleeplessness that is not attributable to a medical, psychiatric, or environmental cause. It is broken down into three categories.

Psychophysiological insomnia

Idiopathic insomnia

Paradoxical insomnia

I just thought I would share my findings to make the distinction between primary and secondary insomnia as outlined in a previous post. I guess a medical mind can best help in determining the type of insomnia a person is dealing with and provide the necessary care.

I didn
t know there were several types, so thanks. I
ve just looked them up and I
m more the latter, paradoxical. I
ve learned to cope with it as I don
t like to take tablets and the only way I know is to have a bath to relax my body in the evening. I am a light sleeper anyhow, but not being able to sleep at times or get any quality uninterrupted sleep can make me very grumpy.
