Natural cures for depression? Do they exist?
#1
Has anybody had any luck with natural remedies for depression, that don't include St. Johns wart or exercise? I have depression and most medications have failed, so I am looking for some natural cures.

I have friends who swear by meditation and mindfulness to lessen the symptoms of depression. I can't comment to the effectiveness of these methods personally. My depression is one side of my bipolar disorder which must be treated with medication. Unfortunately I have never heard of natural remedies that can treat both depression and mania, so I'm stuck with meds for both.

I solely rely on natural cures for depression. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, eat a very clean diet, exercise daily and take supplements. I take a B complex, fish oil, evening primrose oil, calcium magnesium, etc. The combination of all those things has really helped.

My son-in-law, just yesterday, confided in the rest of the family that he is manic depressive. I had no idea, and frankly wonder how I missed this! I spend quite a bit of time with him, I babysit for he and my daughter. I will pass this information along to him on the supplements. My daughter is an RN and I know she wll use the information correctly. Thanks!!

Natural remedy is your "mind" you decide first that you have to come out from that situation and always think positive. Regular meditation for few minutes will also help.

There are several ways to cure depression naturally. This include exercising daily, eating a healthy diet, being true to all aspects in our life, and lastly talk it out with a friend. Essentially, you just need to work hard and control yourself. Mind over matter as they often say. Don't let frustrations or downfalls consume you. And mostly if you are a friend, help the person overcome depression bit by bit.

I really like this answer and I totally agree with you. I manage my depression naturally by doing all of the things you mentioned above. I refuse to take and medications because I fear a dependency on them. I would rather try to deal with it as naturally as possible without having to depend on any drugs.
