Anti-inflammatory diet is helping Lupus symptoms
#1
A few months back, I started an anti-inflammatory diet, as I was experiencing debilitating information around my lungs as a result of Lupus, as well as circulation problems. I also started to take fish oil supplements on the recommendation of my doctor.

Four months down the line, my symptoms have eased considerably. It's not a quick fix, but the diet and supplements are definitely helping. I eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, oily fish and complex carbohydrates, so it's a tasty diet as well as a beneficial one.

Have you tried to manage your Lupus with diet? How did you get on?

It's good to hear that your symptoms are going down! I am not on a anti-inflammatory diet, but I do drink hibiscus tea for its anti-inflammatory properties. Try adding that to your diet as well!

Yes I have. I also take fish oil supplements on the recommendations of my doctor. They helped me so much that I started eating fish on a regular basis along with fresh fruit and vegetables also dry beans and brown rice for a rich source of protein. I am feeling better, not as tired all the time. I find that cutting down on my sodium intake is helpful also.

I've also cut down on the sodium - it happens naturally when you cut out processed food anyway, and I've never been one for adding more salt at the table. As a result, my blood pressure has come down several points, so it's all good news so far. It takes time for the effects to show, but it's well worth the wait.
