Approach for eating more smaller meals

I am trying to change my eating habits to reduce GERD symptoms. Maybe I am over thinking but I came up with lots of questions. Does anyone know how many meals works best? If you have a meal, can you divide it in two, eat it at different times? Or do you need to eat different foods at each meal? Finally, do you stop feeling unsatisfied after eating like this for a while? Thanks for any help!

RE: Approach for eating more smaller meals

I think you are overthinking a bit Smile. I am sure you can find books that make suggestions, but try 5 small meals to start with and see if it helps. The law of diminishing returns suggests that if you went to something like 7 meals from 5 it wouldn't help much more. That's because you would go from eating 20% of your food in one meal to only 14% in one session.

As for what to eat at each meal, I eat two breakfasts with different foods. That's only because I eat yogurt in one sitting and fruit an hour and a half later. I eat my larger "lunch" at two times but its the same food. My dinner is a small meal.

For your last question, I am not sure what you mean by satisified.

Thanks for your suggestions. I know I am planning too much. Its my nature. Smile My last question was about feeling like you have eat enough. I haven't started this yet but when I get up in the morning I am so hungry. In th past I would have a big breakfast. I am just thinking how underpowered I will feel with just a bit of food.

RE: Approach for eating more smaller meals

Hello PeteS, I know what it is like to not feel full! It is a feeling I
have come to live with. Between the reflux and the not-so-full feeling I
chose to avoid the burning. It can be hard. I remember it was for me in
the beginning! Good luck with your diet changes.

To help make adopting these changes easier, try logging what you eat and
what works. If you find foods that work for you that you like, it will
be easier.

RE: Approach for eating more smaller meals

Sorry, I cannot comment on feeling satisfied this way. I have never had the need for a big meal to feel satisfied.
