Hi Im new here and need some advice please!!!!!!!!!

Hello I'm new to this forum and would like some advice regarding R/A??
About 6 months ago i started to get pain, dull ache and tenderness in my right shoulder then I started to get pain, dull ache, swelling and tender around my rght elbow and now or over the last month or so the pain is going down to my wrist, hand and finger's. I get dull ache type pain, swelling of the hand and fingers but it's my thumb thats the most painful. Then over the last month my rght knee is painful, swollen, feels like toothache???? I own my own cleaning business and am finding it harder each week and by the time i come home i'm limping and the pain is out of this world on my rght side. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi damaged goods!

My name is Rose, and I have had RA for almost 9 years by
now. I totally understand what you are going through. The pain can be sometimes
excruciating and extremely painful, it is definitely a sharp intense pain and I
love the way you are describing it, as a “toothache”. I’m curious to know if
you have been to your doctor or if you have been diagnosed with RA because the
pattern of pain you’re describing seems to be only on one side of the body and,
as far as I know, usually the RA pain is bilateral. I was wondering if maybe
you have another type of arthritis, (ie osteoarthritis) because you also
mention that the pain increases in intensity with activity throughout the day,
which usually happens on osteoarthritis while people with RA are experiencing
the worse pain in the morning or after long periods of inactivity.

  In my case, I have
been fighting RA symptoms for quite a while and the only way that I have been
able to cope with the pain is by taking my cocktail of medications
(methotrexate. Sulfazaline, naproxen, etc), which have allowed me to continue
doing most of the things I like to do (sometimes even dancing) but most
importantly to continue working as a RN (which you must know it can be quite
physically challenging). My main advice to you is to consult with your doctor
so that you can start taking some medications as soonest as possible because
with RA it is extremely important to start an early treatment to achieve the
most successful management of the disease.

 Hope this helps!

Hello,

I agree that RA is a bilateral condition and the patterns of damage are typically symmetrical when viewed on imaging such as Xray or MRI. If you have pain on just one side then there may be something else going on. I would get checked out as soon as possible, as you are describing symptoms that suggest an inflammatory systemic disease. In the meantime, and if you don't suffer from ulcers, I would eat a lot of fresh (not canned) pineapple. It is rich in an anti-inflammatory agent and can help reduce the swelling.

Hi there

I have had similar symptoms like you but was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia rather. I benefited enormously from a natural food supplement called Alpha Lipid Colostrum and have now my own website to let people know about my experiences.

This stuff seems to be doing very well for sufferers of a lot of degenerative diseases. It is based on the release of loads of adult stem cells from the bone marrow into the blood stream so they can do their "repair work". It is high anti inflammatory as well.

Give it a go I'd say.
