RE: Welcome to the Post-traumatic Stress Disorder forums

My first experience of PTSD was when I moved in with my abusive mother in Chicago, Illinois in 2000. I became homeless while living in Indianapolis due to financial hardship. Therefore I was unable to continue paying rent at my apartment. My mom was the only source that I knew whom was willing to give me a place to stay until I got back on my feet. However, once I moved into at her home, it became pure hell. My mom emotionally and psychologically traumatized me while I resided at her residence. When I was finally able to move out a year later, I moved back to Indianapolis and into my own apartment. After moving back to Indy, my friends here were shocked at my emotional state. I cried a lot and often thought about taking my life. But a higher power had other plans for me. I was able to get the help I needed and joined a wonderful support group soon after.

Hi! I was involved in a near fatal car accident just over 4 years ago. I was life flighted to our trauma hospital and spent over a week in ICU. I had very serious injuries and my problems continue to this very day. It was Workman's Comp related and my Hospice employer has routinely denied me medically necessary treatment so I am now disabled. I have continuous flashbacks, panic attacks and nightmares. I'm continually looking for new procedures or ideas concerning the PTSD and chronic pain. Any opinions or feedback is welcome!
