Diabetes and root canal treatment

I have been diagnosed with diabetes a few years back and I'm taking proper medications. Recently I started experiencing severe teeth pain and left side of the mouth is swollen. One of my neighbors who is a dental student told me that I might have to undergo root canal treatment asap. I have scheduled an appointment with Dr. David Silberman, a dentist in Houston for next week. Can a diabetic patient undergo root canal treatment? What are the risks associated with this procedure?

RE: Diabetes and root canal treatment

My mom is also a diabetic patient and seriously need root canal. She was quite worried and was in doubt that a diabetic patient can go for root canal? Consulted to dentist Torrance, who explained everything brilliantly, and her root canal was done safely!
