I am concerned about my baby's mental health.

I have a terrible relationship with my mother in law and I don't have a clue how to make it better. That woman hates me. I think she is angry because my husband married me instead of her family friend she adored. Now I am 3 months pregnant. She is torturing me always and I am mentally weary of this problem. Most my nights are sleepless. Also, I am afraid that will it affect my baby's mental health. I need a separation from my in law at least till my delivery. So that I can be happy till my delivery. My husband is also not understanding my situation. So I am thinking about attending a counselling with my hubby. One of my friends told me about Premier introductions near Toronto. Even though it is a matchmaking service agency many counselling sessions are held over there. I'm not sure whether already married couples like us are eligible for this. Will he allow to stay separate from my inlaw if we go for counselling? This counselling is my last hope. Otherwise, I will proceed with a divorce. I am concerned about my baby.

RE: I am concerned about my baby's mental health.

First of all, I feel you, I have had problems with my in laws as well and it's very hard to deal with. You really need to stand up for yourself and your baby. You are pregnant and you cannot be stressed out at this point of your life. Have you tried confronting your in law? Maybe good communication can fix this problem.

Your baby is very important as well as your mental health. If proper communication cannot fix your problem, for the meantime, can you live with your parents? Your husband needs to understand that this thing with your in laws isn't beneficial to your baby and your health. He is your husband and he must learn to stand up for you as well.

I do think counselling is a great idea. Maybe a professional can actually help you two make an agreement regarding your case. I have never tried counselling before but I would if my husband hasn't stood up for us.

Good luck and take care!

RE: I am concerned about my baby's mental health.

I think if your situation is getting worse day by day then separation is the best solution for you. You have to convince your husband to stay away from your mother in law, as it will affect your child's health. I think he will understand as it is a matter of your baby. Otherwise, attend the counselling session.
