Physical Therapy For Lower Back Pain

Once I am healed of this herniated disk I am going to get physical therapy. My doctor seems to think it is going to help me. I have seen other people with back problems, and it seems like it has the potential to get much worse. Still, I am only 33 and willing to give anything a try. Has anyone here had success with physical therapy for lower back pain?

RE: Physical Therapy For Lower Back Pain

I have problems with all my spine, cervical, lumbar and dorsal. The discs are herniated and bulging and trapping nerves.

The treatment that I have received with regard to physiotherapy has worked well for me, but not as a permanent measure. My doctor recommended that I had two weeks of physiotherapy to start with and this consisted of having a hot pads which had been dampened and put into the microwave, I had them placed along the bed with me on my back on top of them, giving heat to my neck, and all the spine. I had to lie on these pads until they had gone luke warm, they were really hot to start with.

Then I had the tens machine placed on each area for about fifteen minutes.

After this I had a massage.

I felt a lot better after the treatment, but willl have to repeat it in the future. I hope this information helps you.

RE: Physical Therapy For Lower Back Pain

I have had lower back pain for some time now. I believe it has to do with the few extra pounds I have been steadily gaining. I just started walking for weight loss last week. I am walking three miles a day now and hope to take the weight off.

RE: Physical Therapy For Lower Back Pain

I have had physical therapy for my back. It was my entire back to help strengthen my core. My whole back is weak and off-kilter because of my scoliosis.

The therapy helped at the time. The therapists said to continue the regime after the sessions were over, but I never did. I could not do them well at my home or by myself. However, they did help. If you have the opportunity to have therapy for your lower back, I would definitely say it is worth it. Just keep up the exercises at home.

I also do this but brisk walking to and from work. I got back pain due to work since I'm sitting all day in front of the computer. I also do standing without using my hands to push strength in my abdomen and legs. which resulted to better posture. Learned that from<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="226" style="border-collapse: collapse;width:170pt"><tbody><tr height="20" style="height:15.0pt"> <td height="20" class="xl110" width="226" style="height:15.0pt;width:170pt">http://tgp.com.ph/blog/sitting-office-day-5-office-exercises-youll-ever-need/ cause I felt the need to do some action with my feet literally.

RE: Physical Therapy For Lower Back Pain

There is substantial evidence supporting the benefits of physical therapy and exercise both before and after back surgery. The strength and stability that physical therapy provides can significantly shorten a patient's recovery time after surgery.

I couldn't agree with you more and while your post speaks to physical therapy after surgery, there is growing evidence to suggest that physical therapy can prevent surgery depending on the complaint. Research suggest that treatment by a therapist is just as effective and cheaper than surgery and prescription drugs for numerous medical conditions including back pain, degenerative disk disease, muscle tears and knee osteoarthritis.

RE: Physical Therapy For Lower Back Pain

Lately I have also been suffering from lower back pain. I took physiotherapy treatment but the relief didn’t last more than a couple of days. Now I have been thinking to get acupuncture therapy at the TCM Mississauga clinic. I hope it’ll work!
