Is it possible to get disability benefits for insomnia?

I am at the point where I have no choice but to stop working because my insomnia is so severe. I can't safely drive because I am so exhausted and my memory is a mess too. I make a little doing some work on the web but you can't compete with third world workers and the rates that are offered. I am hoping that some sort of disability benefit would be available. Has anyone managed to t get disability benefits? If so, were they something that a person could survive on?

The only way that I think you could get disability is if the underlying cause were properly diagnosed. Depression, anxiety or pain might get you some consideration, but you would need to go to a medical specialist for such a diagnosis. If you want to follow that route, consider finding a sleep clinic.

If you are living in the US, getting disability assumes that your employer has some sort of coverage for disabilities or that you have such insurance on your own. In other countries with more supportive medical systems, you could have better luck because you will not have to fight an insurer who wants to avoid payouts. I have read on various  different forums for people getting disability for a number of conditions.
