Have you felt like something was lodged in your throat with GERD?

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this symptom with GERD that I have in the past when my condition wasn't under control. I would fill like something was lodged in my throat then I would start gagging. This wasn't actually so bad when I would do it in the morning before going out into public. But when my GERD got so out of control I was doing this more then once a day and there were incidents where it happened in public. People would either get concerned and ask me if I was alright or look at me as it I had two head. Seriously this is why I felt the need to ask all of you if you had ever experience this sort of attack because of the way I was received. Fortunately I now have my GERD under control and is seems like the only time now that I have this problem is when I have cold and drainage from my sinuses is also in my throat. Still I know that this sort of attack is one of my ways of knowing that my GERD isn't under control and I need to consult a physician.

Yes! I have had this happen to me quite a few times, and when it first began, it alarmed me. I didn't do anything to relieve the situation, just drank water and it would stop. It's sometimes hard to swallow as well, something that is more than annoying to me.

RE: Have you felt like something was lodged in your throat with GERD?

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone, although I'm sure this is more common then I think. Its just that it has made me somewhat subconscious, because when my GERD wasn't under control I was having more then one attack a day and some were in public. As I said some showed me concern but others acted like I was odd because I was doing this. Its now to the point where I get a little agitated even when I just have a cough attack in public and people are asking me if I'm OK. I guess I got embarrassed over what had been happening in the past, that now I don't like even coughing in public because I feel like it brings attention to myself.

Well the GERD could have something to do with it, because it was not under conyrol. Also it could have something to do with stress. Seems that if you have the GERD under control the attacks have eased, so therein would seem to be the answer. Stay well.
