Technique to help you fall asleep

This is a technique that helps me personally. Let me start off by saying I have horrible, horrible insomnia. I have tried many things for it, currently I take Seroquil, which honestly doesn't effect me too much.

Anyways, on to the technique. I think of it as "reverse blinking". Close your eyes, and every few seconds open your eyes only long enough to focus on an object for a second or two, then close them again. Keep doing this. What will happen to me after doing this a few times is that my eyelids will become so heavy that it will become painful for me to keep doing it, and I will just want to fall asleep. This is usually the last thing I'll remember doing at night when I wake up.

How or why this works? I couldn't tell you. But it works for me and even prescription sleeping pills don't most of the time. I think it's worth a try for everyone!

This sounds like a laborious and arduous technique for sleeping, but if it works, why not?

A technique I use is the body temperature trick. I raise my body temperature via a hot shower or bath, and then when I am out of the shower my body temperature lowers back down. Studies suggest we sleep better in cooler temperatures.

It actually works a LOT quicker than you would think it would. Well, for me at least.

RE: Technique to help you fall asleep

I'm not sure about sleeping better n cooler temperature but sometimes that doesn't work for me. I mean, we use AC (not to mention takes a hot bath to soothe the nerves) in the evening but I still have sleeping problems. I just realized lately that whenever I get enough Sun exposure due to my early morning jogging/exercise I am able to sleep better in the evening. Also, the breeze coming from the sea for at least 10-15minutes somehow helps my body clock. :) According to a friend of mine there is also a way to reset your body clock, so you'll be able create new sleeping patterns but I forgot what it was since I haven't tried that before. :)

I try exercising to make myself tired. I don't even try showering. I would hit the hay immediately after wiping off the sweat. I don't know if it works for others but it has done wonders for me. I sleep easily after exhausting myself.
