Can eating garlic help prevent yeast infections?

I get oral yeast infections from time to time. I've read that garlic can be a powerful anti-fungal properties. It can, also, be used as an anti-bacterial.

Has anyone had success treating oral yeast infections by eating garlic? If so, how much garlic did you have to consume each day for it to be effective?‚Äč How long did it take before you saw an improvement?

Can eating garlic help prevent yeast infections?

I personally eat quite a lot of garlic, but have not had seen any success in its ability to prevent yeast infections. With my Rheumatoid Arthritis and the medications that I take, I get UTIs and yeast infections more often than normal. So far, only cranberry juice and yogurt have made any improvements for me and these improvements have been small.

I am interested to know where you read about garlic being able to prevent the yeast infections?

Ann

RE: Can eating garlic help prevent yeast infections?

I take garlic and drink probiotics to get rid of a yeast infection. The probiotics will put some of that good bacteria in your body so you can fight off the yeast growth.

According to studies taking in 2 cloves of raw garlic is considered safe meaning there should be no problems with bad breath, acid reflux or gas. Garlic fights inflammation and boosts immunity which in general improves your body's health and infection fighting capabilities.

RE: Can eating garlic help prevent yeast infections?

My boyfriend gets fungal infections in his lungs. One of them was Pseudomonas. When you get Pseudomonas, they like to colonize and not go anywhere. They are persistent, well, like a fungus. It is extremely hard to get rid of and has a high fatality rate. For a couple weeks, he would nebulize with garlic and colloidal silver. When he got his culture, there was no Pseudomonas. The combination of garlic and silver did it.

Garlic is incredible! I would take some, and also the probiotics other posters have mentioned. I would also drink tons of green smoothies and avoid all dairy and animal products. I would also do whatever you can to STOP feeding the yeast. No breads, no man made sugars, etc. Maybe even do an herbal cleanse.

RE: Can eating garlic help prevent yeast infections?

Garlic itself is a natural probiotic and so eating it or using it externally is a great remedy to a lot of issues, including yeast infections. It can be a used to prevent yeast infections as a regular part of your diet or external treatments but it should not alone be considered an effective treatment once infected. It's most important as others have stated not to feed the yeast! Eating healthy in the first place and knowing what that means will keep away all infection, and when you add in garlic to your diet you're only strengthening your immune system.

RE: Can eating garlic help prevent yeast infections?

It has helped me a lot in the past. Just be weary though. Eating too much raw garlic can be damaging your stomach lining. That can lead into bowel problems and leaky gut, so I would suggest using garlic in moderation. It is however a very potent tool in combating candida.
