throat full of mucas

In spite of taking PPIs and having no burning in my throat I still have that feeling like there is a lump.  I constantly cough up mucas. I am always clearing my throat.

Is there anything that I can do to get rid of the mucas? I would really like suggestions!

RE: throat full of mucas

You're probably going to want to talk to your doctor about this. Because it's a side effect of the medication you're already on, they may decide it's better to put you on a different one or cut back the dose some. Or alternatively, they may have an additional medication that will help control the mucus.

RE: throat full of mucas

I have the same problem and have not had relief. It started as a lump but now it is mucas too. I have adjusted my  diet different ways with little luck. The only thing I found was that avoiding fatty foods felt a little better. I still have the problem and just hate it. If you find something somwhere please share it. Many people would like to know I am certain. I am looking myself.

RE: throat full of mucas

I have no information in all my looking so far. It is really a bother. I can't even see medications for this. I would be happy to take something even to get rid of the problem for a while.

RE: throat full of mucas

As someone pointed out already you should talk to your doctor. The lump in the throat followed by gagging is a symptom many of us have experienced with Acid Reflux. But its a tall tale sign that the condition isn't under control for some reason. Also, if mucus is involved something else could be going on. I too experienced a situation where even under medication my Acid Reflux wasn't under control, I was having lumps in my throat and gagging episode more then once a day. Turned out that I also had high blood pressure along with the Acid Reflux, and it was causing issues with the Reflux being under control What is happening could be a sign of drug interaction with another medication you are taking, or the fact that something is keeping the Acid Reflux medication you are currently on from working effectively, such as an another existing condition not yet diagnosed. So seeing a doctor would be the best course of action to find out why this is happening.

RE: throat full of mucas

This sounds like Post Nasal Drip. I have the same, I read that breathing steam from boiled water gets rid of it. I keep forgetting to try it. Will try to remember to let you know if it works.

RE: throat full of mucas

My Father is 83 years old and suffers with this mucus problem. I looked into the meds he is on to see if it is a side effect, and now by reading this I know it is. I gave him apple cidar vinegar with the mother and his mucus is clearing up!

RE: throat full of mucas

Well PPI and chest lump does not have any connection between them neither they have side effects of each other pills. You need to take expectorant to remove or expel out mucas from body.

RE: throat full of mucas

It can help to gargle either mouthwash or hyrogen peroxide before you go to bed. This will break up a lot of the mucus caused my Acid Reflux. I've tried it before and it helped me.
