RE: Did you use the Epidural and would you use it again?

I had an epidural with my daughter in 2004, and the only reason I needed it was because the nurse felt the need to augment my labour without really consulting me or telling me what would happen. I was coping fine with labour until she jacked me on pitocin, and then it was just too much. I've since learned that augmenting labour for no reason except to save time (which is what my nurse did) is quite risky and can lead to a cascade of unnecessary interventions up to and including a cesarean that otherwise would not have been needed (not crashing on those who actually needed a c-section, my mom had one for me for a very valid reason). If I ever have another child, I will definitely opt for NO PITOCIN and try for an epidural-free birth.

I had an epidural with my first baby but my labor was too quick to have one with my second and third babies. Given the choice, I would of had one because I was stressing about the pain etc and with an epidural you feel nothing. However, I felt better quicker with my latter babies and I could walk around etc more or less straight away. I also got to go home the same day.

I had my first child natural and with my second I had an epidural. My first childbirth was so painful compared to my second that I would recommend an epidural. Being able to be comfortable and calm made me enjoy the moment more. If i have another baby I will definitely choose an epidural again.

RE: Did you use the Epidural and would you use it again?

I did have an epidural in my one and only pregnancy. But even with it, the pain of labour was just too much for me. I was in labour for about 12 hours and I think the epidural has helped me for just a few minutes. By then, they didn't give me anything anymore. I was in so much pain that giving birth was too traumatic for me, even until now. I must add, I didn't deliver even via normal since my baby pooped already. So they had to give me an emergency CS operation.
