How Do I Effectively Deal With Nightmares Naturally?

It's really a traumatizing event to have a nightmare that persists. I have a loved one who continues to have reoccurring nightmares and is on the verge of taking caffeine for it, primarily to stay awake. Can anyone help? We are trying to lean towards more of a natural remedy for these awkward nightly disturbances? Any thoughts?

Have they seen a therapist or counselor of some sort? The fact that it's recurring and to the point of them not even wanting to sleep makes me think that there's more to this than just a bad dream every now and then without any cause. It sounds like maybe something happened to them that they're not dealing with and therefore, in their sleeping hours, their brain is going to that subject anyway. It's at least something to consider if they haven't had any counseling at all.

One of my children had a reoccurring nightmare which was handled with success using these tips. Examine the nightmare to use this method to resolve. Take for instance the dream of falling. I mentioned her ability to instantly create long, strong fingernails to stop the falling and to actually use them to climb out of the area. The suggestion was reinforced in the morning after the nightmare solution was given to make sure it was remembered. Just saying "Remember the nails" can be said prior to bedtime so the person has the tools to fight nightmares. For any age, use imagery to give the solution to the nightmare.

Have you heard about lucid dreaming? It is actually having some level of control over your dreams even while you're sleeping. There are articles over the web on how to effectively achieve lucid dreaming. It really helps in preventing and stopping nightmares.

This. If you can achieve a good level of lucidity over your dreams, you can face your fears and eliminate them. Ask whatever is bothering you in your dreams why it is.
