Is Hepatitis A Ever Cured?

If a person contacted Hepa A at a young age and got cured is he/she really cured? I heard that the virus stays and would develop again if you are not careful? How do you usually get Hepa A?

I used to have this friend who had Hepa A, she said she got hers by contact with other person like talking to someone with Hepa. Is this for real?

RE: Is Hepatitis A Ever Cured?

Yes, the person is cured. It's an infection and the body fights it itself, so there aren't any long term effects from it. It's kind of like getting the flu....the body fights it and the person is "cured," but if they come in contact with the virus again, then of course, they are susceptible to it again, just like anybody else would be.

As for the other question, it wouldn't have been just from talking to someone because hepa A isn't airborne. It's usually from touching a contaminated object. So maybe they shared a glass of water or both touched a countertop that had infected fecal matter traces on it, for example. Or they shook hands even, while one person was carrying it.
