RE: rapidly gaining weight?

I don't think that gaining weight with OA is very uncommon. I know that it has happened to me, why because I find that I'm not as active as I use to be. I use to take long walks which I can no longer do as much as I use to. I have had to start looking at my eating habits, and started to change them because of this fact. Also, medications can cause weight gain, best thing to do if your doctor won't answer your questions is to look up the medications on the internet, and find out if this is a draw back to taking the medications you are taking.

Walking is a very good way to reduce, as well as maintain your weight. If my back could take it, I would walk as well. That is a very good idea about the research. You will be able to find out about the medication's effects. Sometimes I feel that we are treated as guinea pigs with the medications. Not a good thing at all.

You need to go see the Dr. and not worry what he might say. You need to be very firm with him about your weight gain. If the meds are causing the weight gain, maybe ask for a different medication for your pain etc. In the past I have had to demand that the Dr. listen to me and demand a different medication. Only then did he listen and my life was much better. And if he doesnt listen go to a different Dr. that will listen. It's your life and your health and you have right to make decisions about it.
