HOW GRAVE IS STAGE 2 COLON CANCER?

Someone very very dear to me was diagnosed with this just this September. I get crowded and devastated having to read so many and so long articles about it. Simply out... I'd like to know about it. I'm really all messed up over this. Thanks.

RE: HOW GRAVE IS STAGE 2 COLON CANCER?

Hi there,

I am so sorry to hear that. Cancer is a horrible disease for having. But here is some good news. In this case you mentioned, it is not so bad. If you are from a country with good cancer care then survival chances are good. Most people who have Stage 2 Colon cancer survive 5 years at least. The official survival number is 90%. This is because the cancer has spread a little only. It is not like later stages where it is in much tissue and is much harder for treating.

I hope you can relax and focus on supporting your sick loved one.

Good luck!

Rose

RE: HOW GRAVE IS STAGE 2 COLON CANCER?

I think Stage 4 cancer is the really worrying stage - although of course any diagnosis of cancer is cause for concern. The good news is that these days, survival rates for all forms of cancer are much better than they were even 10 years ago. At one time, the only treatment for colon cancer was removal of the diseased portion of the colon, which meant living with a bag, but these days, it's not automatic.
