pain following my endoscopy

I had an endoscopy last Monday. I had been having GERD symptoms. The endoscopy was extremely uncomfortable despite the anaesthetic. I was hoarse for days afterward. Now more than a week later, I still have pain in my chest. Its not GERD pain and it hurts to talk. Did anyone else have this happen when they had an endoscopy?

RE: pain following my endoscopy

I had an endoscopy and it was uncomfortable but I didn't have lasting hoarseness or pain. It seems as if something in your throat was damaged. I would go back to your doctor and tell him or her that you are in pain still. The only problem is that they may want to go back in to see what was damaged.

RE: pain following my endoscopy

This definitely doesn't sound good. My discomfort following endoscopy only lasted 3 days. A week is certainly too long.

I plan to return. I knew something wasn't correct. Thanks for your perspectives.

RE: pain following my endoscopy

The poking around in your throat could have exposed something and caused an infection. Even if you don't want them looking deep in your throat, they might give you antibiotics to stop any possible infections.

RE: pain following my endoscopy

I really hope it only an infection. Antibiotics would be the easiest route. I will find out tomorrow.

RE: pain following my endoscopy

I didn't suffer long term pain such as this. I agree with the possibility of an infection or small tear. I hope you can get this taken care of soon.

RE: pain following my endoscopy

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I went in to the doctor on Thursday. He also suspected damage from the endoscopy. He has put me on a few antibiotics and asked me to come back next week if the pain persists. He didn't want to send me for another endoscopy to check. I didn't want to go either.

Now I still have some pain that is making it hard now to sleep but I think I am getting better.
