I have gotten flu shots in the past, a few times, and I am not a huge fan of them. I got them when I was working in a nursing home, and it was highly suggested that all of the staff get them. I ended up getting sick each time I had one, but I can't say that I became deathly ill, or that the shot was the cause of me getting sick. The shot either made me sick or lessened the flu that I did end up catching.
Other than those times, I have not bothered getting the flu shot at all. I have only have bad cases of the flu a couple of times, and other than that, I either didn't get it at all, or only got a mild case.
So, I would have to say that for those who are high risk, or those who, if they got sick it could be fatal to them, the flu shot is probably a good idea. For those who are not high risk, I think that it is best to let nature take it course, and the body to buld up its own resistance.
