Do You Get a Flu Shot?
In my opinion, flu shots are the biggest hype in the history of medicine but many people swear by them. How many of you will get a flu shot or have gotten one in the past? Do they work for you or did you become deathly ill afterwards? Please share your thoughts!

I have not gotten the flu shot yet, but I have considered it. I just worry about getting the flu from the shot-and maybe it will be worse than getting it naturally. I have read and heard that many people swear by it though. My husband is in agreement with you-he thinks the shots are all hype as well.

RE: Do You Get a Flu Shot?
I refuse to get a flu shot. The last time I got a flu shot was in 1994. I got the flu a few days later. I get my benefits from the VA and everytime I go in they try to give me a flu shot. I have asthma and I am considered high risk. I will not get a flu shot. I don't see the benefit of them. It seems work for other people. I just make sure I keep my hands washed and take my vitamins.

RE: Do You Get a Flu Shot?
I get my flu shot every year. I mostly do it because where I work gives them to us free, and we can go there whenever and get it and do not need to pay or make an appointment. I have never gotten sick from getting the flu shot, and honestly I haven't gotten the flu in a long time. (knock on wood)

RE: Do You Get a Flu Shot?
I have got sick when I went for my shot. It wasn't the shot for me I think that got me sick. I think it was all the other sick people in the hospital where I went for it. They all had colds and I was there for one hour before my shot.

RE: Do You Get a Flu Shot?
I have gotten flu shots in the past, a few times, and I am not a huge fan of them. I got them when I was working in a nursing home, and it was highly suggested that all of the staff get them. I ended up getting sick each time I had one, but I can't say that I became deathly ill, or that the shot was the cause of me getting sick. The shot either made me sick or lessened the flu that I did end up catching. Other than those times, I have not bothered getting the flu shot at all. I have only have bad cases of the flu a couple of times, and other than that, I either didn't get it at all, or only got a mild case. So, I would have to say that for those who are high risk, or those who, if they got sick it could be fatal to them, the flu shot is probably a good idea. For those who are not high risk, I think that it is best to let nature take it course, and the body to buld up its own resistance.
